My name is Eugene Combs, I am a science tutor here at Hazard Community and Technical College. I am glad to help with any of the science courses offered, as well as other subjects like History and English. Professionally, I am new to the HCTC community but have lived in the Perry County area for a little over 13 yrs. Currently I hold a MA in adult education from Morehead State University and a BA in university studies. Having obtained my degrees a little later in life I have some insight into what it takes to succeed as an adult student and I'm glad to share successful study habits and traits with any student that needs help. Things that I am passionate about are

environmental conservation, gardening and animal husbandry, and spending time with my family (mostly my wife and 4 dogs). Please, if you need help in any of the courses offered here at HCTC don't hesitate to contact me. Together, we can get you on the right track.

My Course Specialties:

I can help with science, writing, history and math. I can also link students with other college services. If you are having problems in a class come and get help. It is free, flexible, and easy to set up tutoring. #SmartStudents Get a Tutor

Phone: (606) 487-3318

Hello, students! My name is Austyn Caudill, and I am thrilled to be a tutor at HCTC once again! I tutored at HCTC previously from 2014-2017 while obtaining my AA/AS degrees. Then, I transferred to MSU and earned my BA in mathematics and social studies education. With my BA, I was able to become a certified math teacher in the state of Kentucky, and I am currently working on my masters in math education!

"I had been out of school for years, and I realized I needed help reviewing some college algebra concepts that I had forgotten. So, I sought out tutoring when I was a student here in 2014. Through this support, I was successful in my course, and I was inspired to become a tutor myself!" It is okay to ask for help…. Everyone needs it sometimes, and I truthfully would not have made it through school without getting some tutoring myself. Don’t be afraid to get support, it is here for you!

There are four things in life that I love more than anything: my three children and education! My job is to help you, and I love my job. So, don't hesitate to reach out if you need assistance...l'm here to help you.

Subject Specialties:

College Algebra, Applied Mathematics, dosage calculations for PAX exam, Transitional Algebra... Math is my strength. Although Math is my specialty, I also have familiarity with other subjects such as Spanish, CIT, FYE, etc., and I am happy to assist you in any way that I can!

Richard Ramsey

Contact Info:
Email: rramsey0011@kctcs.edu
Office Phone: (606) 487-3340

My name is Richard Ramsey and when I'm not helping students, I am busy trying to get my son to put down the video games. I like seeing different places and trying different foods (Hard to tell, right?). I also love playing pool. My eyesight isn't the greatest, but I still enjoy playing. I love to laugh and have fun. Life is too short and I think we need to have fun while we are here.

Subject Specialties:

Math, Statistics, English, but I will try to help with any subject. If we can't help you, we will find someone who can.

FAQ'S

The time to seek assistance from a tutor is the minute you realize you need help. If you're still not sure, ask yourself these questions:

  • Am I falling behind in class?
  • Am I having trouble with homework assignments?
  • Have I done poorly on tests I have taken?
  • Do I have difficulty writing a paper?
  • Have I been flagged through Starfish or been referred by an instructor?

If you answered "Yes" to even one question above, you should visit a tutoring location soon.

The goal of the tutoring program is to provide the resources to help strengthen your knowledge and understanding of the material in your college classes. It also promotes the processes of active learning, independence, and motivation.
For remote tutoring, scheduling appointments virtually will vary depending on the tutor and their availability. Students can also drop-in when the tutoring center is open. This is all subject to change - please refer to the HCTC tutoring schedule listed above for the most accurate hours of operation.
