Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) wants our students to succeed in college– and in life! Our Student Success (SS) Coaches are available at our Hazard, Lees, and Tech campus locations for in-person or virtual appointments. They are here to help you with both academic and non-academic matters such as:
- Connecting you to internal resources like tutoring, accessibility service information, veterans services, financial aid specialists, and more!
- Setting up the KCTCS app or linking KCTCS email to your smartphone.
- Learning how to use KCTCS email, Blackboard® and helping to set up your user account information.
- Providing information about HCTC’s in-person activities, public events, and social media.
- Providing direction to behavioral health services including connections for counseling services.
- Connecting students to external resources such as transportation providers, public housing, food banks, and social services.

Some hobbies of mine include spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and listening to music. My name is Johnny Morgan. I am from Hyden, KY. I graduated from Leslie County High School and later graduated from Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) with my Associate’s degree. I am currently attending Morehead State University to obtain my Bachelor's degree. My main hobby is playing music and spending time with my friends. Not only do I work at HCTC as a Student Affairs Specialist/Student Success Coach, but I also play professionally as a musician! My role as a Student Success Coach is this: whatever obstacles that you have in life while you’re at HCTC, I am fully prepared to help you remove them in any way that I can! Being a past student at HCTC myself, I understand how important getting your education is. My job now is to help you with the steps that you need to take to get it done. |

My name is Gary Vinson. I was raised and currently reside in Hazard. I like to watch sports, travel, write poetry, but nothing is more gratifying than being a father. This is my 2nd year at HCTC as a Success Coach. My purpose is to assist you, the student, to overcome obstacles and provide the support you may need. I will be glad to get you connected to the services you may need to help alleviate the stressors from daily life so that you can focus on your classes. I know the feeling of being overwhelmed while taking classes, feeling burnt out, and having personal obligations. Just remember, the measure of a person is how they handle adversity. Success is different for everyone; whatever level you desire to reach, I will be here to help you along the way. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
