What Is Nuclear Medicine Technology?

Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) is a specialized area of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive materials, known as radiopharmaceuticals, to diagnose, treat, and monitor various diseases. This field combines chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer technology, and medicine to provide valuable information about the structure and function of organs and tissues within the body.

Length of Program

You can earn an associate in applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status. One semester of prerequisites, and 3 semesters of program specific courses.

This information should not be considered a substitute for the KCTCS Catalog . You should always choose classes in cooperation with your faculty advisor to ensure that you meet all degree requirements.

This program is planned to begin Fall 2025 pending SACSCOC approval.
