Strategic Planning

HCTC ensures that all its strategic initiatives align and work toward the mission and vision of the college. The STRATEGIC PLANNING GOALS MEASURMENTS AND HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER DOCUMENT shows how the Strategic Plan, Diversity Plan, KCTCS Business Plan, Quality Enhancement Plan and Strategic Enrollment Management Plan fit together as well as indicate the committees that monitor this work.

Student Success

Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) defines student success as changed lives.  This means setting clear academic goals, achieving those goals, and leaving HCTC prepared for the next phase of life.  Each student brings a kaleidoscope of life experiences, often jumbled and out of focus, but all infused with hope that HCTC can guide and lead to a better future.  HCTC brings the kaleidoscope into focus, aiming its efforts to effect positive change in each student’s life, while recognizing change must be defined by the student

Hazard Community and Technical College defines equity as striving to give all students what they need to be successful. HCTC recognizes that equity and equality are not the same thing, and that students may have very different needs along their paths to success. HCTC meets students where they are, assesses where they want to be, and provides the tools and resources they need to get there. Because HCTC values equity over equality, the college recognizes that some students, especially underrepresented populations, will need more and different resources than others.
