Two music camps for young people begin June 10
HCTC will offer two music campus beginning June 10 for young people.
Music in the Mountains Choral Camp grades 2 to 6
Come spend the week at HCTC with Hazard native Mark Fields who is back for his third
year with Music in the Mountains. Mark will be teaching singers from grades 2 to 6.
During the week, June 10 14, Mark will focus on vocal technique, musicianship, basic
music reading skills, performance etiquette and, most importantly, having FUN! The
camp will conclude with a concert on Friday night. The day camp will run from 10 a.m.
3 p.m. at the HCTC First Federal Center, Room 123-A.

Music in the Mountains Contemporary Singing grades 7 to 12
Amanda Combs, Hazard native, is excited to share her vocal knowledge with her hometown
during a 4-day camp at HCTC for students in grades 7 - 12. Amanda is working on her
Masters of Music degree at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. The camp will
run Monday Thursday, June 10 14, from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. at HCTC s First Federal
Center, Rooms 123 B and C. The camp will conclude with a concert on Thursday night.
Amanda will teach students breathing techniques, sound placement, relaxation/relaxed
vowels, stage presence, how to use a microphone, and some songwriting. Depending on
the interest of the class, the All State Choral piece may be included. The camp will
also allow time for group, trio, duo, and solo work. Space is limited to 15 students.
