The Lees College Homecoming Celebration will be held on October 25 and 26, 2013 on
the Lees College Campus of HCTC. The following is a celebration of a former Lees College
student.
Terence Brooks is a 1986 graduate of Lees College. Terence was an all-conference and
all-regional player at Lees College. He led the Generals to an overall record of 41
wins and 19 losses during his tenure at the college. The Generals were KJCAC champions
during Terence s freshman year. Terence was also an excellent student and he was chosen
as Captain of the basketball team. Terence signed to play for the Murray State Racers
after Lees and he helped the Racers capture an Ohio Valley Conference championship
his senior year. The 1988 Racers team defeated North Carolina State in the first round
of the NCAA tournament before eventually losing to national champion Kansas in the
second round by a score of 61-58. Terence was known for his three-point shooting ability
and team leadership. The 1988 Racers team was led in scoring by future NBA player,
Popeye Jones.
Terence went on to a very successful coaching career after graduation from Murray State. He helped the Paris High School girls team to several state tournament appearances. He is currently the head basketball coach for the women s team at Berea College. Terence is looking forward to the Lees College Homecoming Celebration on October 25 and 26. He is doing his best to schedule an appearance at the Red/White game which will be played on October 25, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Lees Gym. Rich Holl who helped author a book on the history of Lees College - Place of Hope, Place of Progress: An Illustrated History of Lees College, 1883-1996 says he is looking forward to seeing Terence and many of the other great players who attended the college over the years. Dr. Holl co-authored the book with Cathy Branson and Steven Bowling. The book will be available to the public as part of the Homecoming Celebration event.
