Surgical Technology program receives accreditation

The HCTC Surgical Technology Program is now accredited and this allows graduates from the program to take the Surgical Technologist certification exam. The certification exam is given by the National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assisting. Since this is a National exam students will be allowed to go throughout the nation and work. Students must attend a pre-admission conference before the April 1st deadline. The conferences will be: Wednesday Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Lees College Campus of HCTC, Library Science Bldg. Room 102, and Thursday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. at Big Sandy Community amp; Technical College, Prestonsburg Campus - Student Center Room 110.

A pre-admission conference is an informal group conference for the purpose of providing information. April 1, 2011 is the date for students to complete all admission requirements.

The agenda for these conferences includes discussion of the Surgical Technology Program admission process, Surgical Technology program requirements, and an overview of the profession.
