HCTC students honored at state SKILLS USA conference
Nine Hazard Community and Technical College students involved in Skills USA, a HCTC Student Organization, took top honors at a state conference. Tony Back was honored for his work as an organization advisor and the club received the 2012 Power Postsecondary Partner Award to HCTC accepted by the Student Organization.
We are very proud of such an outstanding group and their skills displayed at state. They are true leaders and skilled professionals in their area of study, noted Tony Back, Program Coordinator and Associate Professor in the Computer Aided Drafting amp; Design / Surveying Program.
The students honored were from four counties: Glenn Campbell of Campton; Michael Williams, Tabitha Collier, Michael Bargo II, all of Hazard and Tyler Deaton of Busy; Wayne Patterson of Jackson; Shelly Parrott of Millstone; Jessica Hollenbeck of Whitesburg; and Jordan Stidham of Premium.
The four first place winners will be attending Skills USA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City during June 2012.

Skills USA is a chapter of Skills USA Kentucky, which is a chapter of the national organization, Skills USA. Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce and the organization helps each student excel both personally and professionally. Skills USA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. Students build strong skills in leadership, teamwork, community service, professionalism, and technical area of study as a member of Skills USA.
