Sandy Campbell is Ready to Work coordinator
Sandy Campbell is gearing up for a new semester in a new role at Hazard Community and Technical College as the Ready to Work Coordinator. She will manage the Ready to Work grant as well as recruit and place eligible students in work study positions. She also provides academic success, career exploration and job readiness workshops.
Ready to Work and the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP) work in unison to help students succeed. This is done via a work study component that will provide additional income to clients that will not go against their monthly K-TAP check amount. We also offer support such as career goal setting, academic assistance, and educational planning to our students, Mrs. Campbell said.
I am very excited to be able to offer support to our students. It can be very challenging but it is also very worthwhile to see our students become successful. By gaining a valuable education, they have the opportunity to better their quality of life, Mrs. Campbell noted, adding her goal is to help students and to have the No. 1 Ready To Work program in the KCTCS system.
HCTC President Dr. Steve Greiner said Mrs. Campbell s interest in helping students made her a natural choice for this position. We have seen Sandy grow through the years and we re excited about this new opportunity for her, he said.
Students already say they appreciate Mrs. Campbell and her work. Kristi Nix of Dwarf noted, She checks in with me to see how the job is going and she gets to know the students as a person. I really like that.
Mrs. Campbell has been with HCTC since July 2000 in the Advancement Office. In this position, a major part of her responsibilities was working with scholarships. She also assisted the Greater Hazard Area Performing Arts office.
She is a graduate of Morehead State University, Summa Cum Laude, with a bachelor s degree. She is working on a master s degree in Adult and Higher Education from MSU.
Sandy and husband Pete Campbell have two daughters. Hannah, age 19, attends MSU, majoring
in pre-Vet and Katie, age 16, a Perry County Central High School junior.
