Sandy Campbell is HCTCs Workforce Solutions Liaison

Helping new businesses get started and helping existing businesses with their training needs are two of the roles Sandy Campbell is undertaking in her new role as Workforce Solutions Liaison at Hazard Community and Technical College.

She began with Workforce Solutions Aug. 1 and has worked at the college for more than 16 years in various roles. Her goals include: work with local community and business and industry to enhance workforce development within the region; develop and promote training opportunities to enhance the skills of the regions workforce; coordinate events that support and promote entrepreneurship; and provide referral services and information for start-ups and existing small business.

Mrs. Campbell comes from an entrepreneurial background. Her father has owned his own business for more than 30 years and her husband started his own business last year as well. I understand the challenges and risks involved in creating and maintaining a business, she said.

Keila Miller, Workforce Solutions Director, noted, Sandy brings to our department existing partnerships that she developed while coordinating the Ready to Work program. She understands the obstacles that face many of our students who have lost their jobs and are now seeking a new career to support their families. Her enthusiasm to launch a new program from a simple idea to a life changing career path for our region will serve our institution, students, and citizens well.

HCTC Workforce Solutions is a driving force for the region. I am honored to be a part of this department, she said. Workforce Solutions, and our college, clearly understand and recognize the challenges for our region and we are dedicated to improving our workforce through partnerships and collaboration with local entities and business and industry. Mrs. Campbell is a life-long resident of Perry County. I am extremely proud of my Eastern Kentucky roots. I want to see our region thrive and grow for future generations to live here, work here, and stay here. If I can contribute to these worthy endeavors, that would be very worthwhile, she said.

Her husband is a laid off coal miner so she knows first-hand the struggles and realizes the importance of job creation and stability for our community and our region. I bring that insight into this position and I want to help our community remain strong for future generations.

Her previous HCTC roles include Financial Aid Coordinator, Lead Coordinator, Ready-to-Work Program, and Advancement Office administrative assistant.

She holds a master s degree and bachelor s degree from Morehead State University.

She and husband Pete Campbell reside in Yerkes. They have two daughters. Hannah Campbell, age 24, of New Tazewell, TN is in her first year of graduate school at Lincoln Memorial University studying Veterinary Medicine. Katie Campbell, age 21, is a junior at EKU studying Psychology and Art and wants to become an Art Therapist.
