Lees College Alumni Moment - Jeannie Moore and Robert Baker

Lees College Alumni MomentThe Lees College Homecoming Celebration is scheduled for October 25 and 26 on the Lees College Campus of HCTC. Please make your plans to attend the event. The following is a success story involving a former Lees College student or students.

Jeannie Moore and Robert Baker met as students on the Lees College Campus in 1993. Jeannie was a nursing major and Robert was interested in public service. They began to date and they decided to get married in 1995; they held their reception in Jackson Hall on the Lees College Campus. Dr. Robert Lowdermilk, who was Dean of Students at that time, performed the ceremony at the Gurreant Presbyterian Church in Jackson. That was the beginning of a love story that has lasted twenty years. Today Jeannie and Robert are successful in their community and they give much of the credit to their experiences at Lees College.

Jeannie is a Registered Nurse who has now worked for the Forcht Group a total of eighteen years. She is currently employed at the Wolfe County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Campton. She is a supervisor and she enjoys working with elderly patients. Jeannie believes much of her success is because of the outstanding nursing program that was a part of Lees College during the time she was a student. She also credits one of our current instructors as being most helpful in her preparation for the nursing program. Dell Sasser was a very challenging professor but his science classes were interesting and they helped me once I became a part of the nursing program.

Robert Baker who is originally from Lexington, KY works for the Department of Juvenile Justice. He has worked for that agency a total of fourteen years. Robert believes that Lees College gave him the personal attention that he needed at that time in his life. He was especially complimentary of his communications instructor Mary Jo Rudd. Ms. Rudd had a way of making you feel confident when you had to give a speech. She was challenging, yet compassionate and caring. Ms. Rudd taught at Lees College for many years but she passed away in the 1990s.

Robert and Jeannie currently live at Vancleve, KY with their two daughters, Savannah and Emi.
