Jolly Center auditorium to get upgrade
HCTC received funding to renovate the auditorium in the Jolly Classroom Center that will enhance opportunities for workforce training and academic programing. The Appalachian Regional Commission provided the funding for the 2,500 square feet space which will seat 165. The auditorium (built in 1970) will become a high-tech training facility with improved handicapped access that will enable the College to better serve regional employers in job training by expanding capabilities. The room will house components of the 3D Visualization Equipment for use in workforce training and community events. The total project is $600,000.
HCTC President Dr. Steve Greiner said he looks forward to opening the renovated facility to local school districts who have already expressed interest in using an upgraded facility for professional development serving teachers and administrators. While the renovated room will be heavily used for workforce training and professional development, it will also be used for various community events, lecture series, forums, conferences and gatherings, noted Dr. Greiner.
Work on the project is expected to begin during summer 2013.
