Increased financial help to attend HCTC
Increased financial help to attend HCTC
Thinking about enrolling in classes beginning in January? HCTC is more affordable than ever before for families of all income levels because of changes in federal financial aid and tax credits. HCTC is committed to providing financial assistance and access to ensure that anyone wanting to attend can do so. To do this a variety of federal, state and college funding programs are made available. New and expanded efforts to promote college enrollment include:
On the federal level, the maximum Pell Grant increased to $5,350 for an academic year compared to $4,731 a year ago (an increase of $619). Funding for College Work Study has been increased as well. Additionally, federal educational policy now calls for the nation to have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020. To do this Stimulus Package dollars have been made available to offset tuition, provide for books and transportation.
On the local level, HCTC continues to offer institutional scholarships thanks to the generosity and commitment of our local benefactors. HCTC offers courses in six different campus locations in our service region to be convenient and to reduce student transportation cost. Additionally, online courses and modulized courses are offered to promote affordability and to serve working individuals. HCTC offers Expanding Horizons scholarship for high school students.
With the above and other established funding sources, HCTC has an institutional priority of ensuring college going is affordable.
