Hyden Citizens Donates 5K+ to HCTC; LCHS Students Get HCTC Classes Free

Leslie County High School

The 100+ students enrolled in Dual Credit classes at Leslie County High School received some welcome news recently as Fred Brashear from Hyden Citizens Bank delivered a check for $5,700, covering the remainder of their tuition costs at Hazard Community and Technical College. HCB s CEO Fred Brashear said, It is a great opportunity for us to make sure that these students can get an early start on their college education.

Each of these students is currently receiving college credit during the school day at LCHS, but a cost of roughly $200 was assessed for every class in which students were enrolled. That is where Hyden Citizens stepped in. Brashear said We were happy to help. Hyden Citizens has had a long and positive relationship with both the College and the High School, so any chance we have to invest in the young people of Leslie County, we try to do so.

HCTC President Dr. Steve Greiner and Carla Seals, Director of Advancement, attended the celebration. We are very appreciative of Hyden Citizens Bank and Fred Brashear for their generous donations and their interest in the educational success of Leslie County students, Dr. Greiner said.
