HCTC success story: Russell Roark

Russell Roark head shot Even though the economy has taken a down turn, education is the key to employment. That is the advice from HCTC graduate Russell Roark.

Roark graduated from Hazard Community and Technical College with an Associate in Applied Science degree after completing the Industrial Electricity Program. He has been continuously employed since then utilizing his training. He is currently employed in the natural gas field as a Measurement Technician and he serves as an electrical inspector for the surrounding counties. Prior to this, he worked at HCTC as an instructor in what is now the Kentucky Coal Academy. His resume also includes Trus Joist, where he was a Control Systems Technician.

I ve been blessed, Roark said, adding that he is thankful for the education he received through HCTC.

Hazard Community and Technical College is definitely the place to begin your education. If you start here and acquire the basics, you can definitely reach your goals, Roark said. I have a good career because of the education I have received.
Roark gives high marks to Danny Ingram, Electricity Program Coordinator, for his teaching and the foundation he received.
