HCTC radiography grad receives MSU award

HCTC radiography program graduate Shane Farmer was honored by Morehead State University as the outstanding student in Computed Tomography/Magnetic Resonance for this year s graduating class.

You always like to know that our students do well after completing the radiography program, but it brings us a great sense of pride when we hear of success such as Shane Farmer s, noted Homer Terry, Radiography Program Coordinator, of the HCTC/SKCTC regional radiography program. I applaud his success at MSU and congratulate him on this award.

Farmer graduated from HCTC's Radiography Program in May 2008. I was very pleased with the education I received at HCTC. The student to instructor ratio offered at HCTC adds a personal touch to the learning environment but this doesn't mean the courses were any less challenging. I feel that I walked away from every completed course with an increased knowledge and a better understanding of not only the subject matter, but what it takes to compete and succeed in today's world. I was really impressed with the faculty at HCTC, especially those involved with the radiography program. They were very knowledgeable in their field of instruction and I believe they genuinely care about the future success of their students, Farmer said, adding that he would definitely encourage others to enroll at HCTC.

Farmer is continuing his classes at MSU through July 29 and plans to take his Magnetic Resonance registry exam in May which will make him more qualified for the job market.

Farmer and wife Heather (Barger) Farmer are currently living in Morehead while he attends school but they are originally from Hyden. His parents are Bobby and Rita Farmer.
