HCTC prepared Thompson for advanced college work
Daniel Thompson said his Hazard Community and Technical College classes helped him as he became a Centre College student. Thompson took classes at HCTC until the spring 2015. HCTC is like coming to a home away from home. The people are friendly, the staff is nice, and it has a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the in-person classes I took. One of the things that surprised me was how much the professors took the time to sit and chat with the students who attended their office hours. They wanted the people who cared to succeed. Overall, a great experience, he said.Thompson described HCTC professors as highly engaging and very helpful.
He values education. The usefulness of certificates, degrees, and education in today s job market cannot be understated. HCTC is far cheaper than a place like Centre or UK. You can afford the student loans. It s hard to get anywhere without an education, and HCTC will provide it, provided you are willing to work, he said.
While Thompson is undecided about his career, he is thinking about the medical field. The Cordia High School graduate is attracted to chemistry and biology classes.
He has advice to those considering college. Come to HCTC. The people are nice, the degree can get you a job, and you can do this all while being home.
