HCTC honors Donnia Vanschoyck as outstanding staff member
HCTC has honored Donnia Vanschoyck with the 2010 New Horizon Outstanding Support Staff award for her work at the Technical Campus. Donnia has proved herself to be an invaluable asset because of her work with admissions, traditional classes, workforce training, Kentucky Coal Academy scholarships, facilities and numerous other areas of the college, noted Dr. Jennifer Lindon, Learning Services dean.
HCTC President/CEO Dr. Allen Goben said Donnia s customer service is just one of her outstanding attributes that prompted the administration to honor her. No matter what the need, Donnia does a fantastic job to fulfill it. Donnia serves in many different roles, and she demonstrates the utmost professionalism in each and every job she does, Dr. Goben said.
I can t claim sole ownership of any HCTC accomplishment, Donnia said, adding, All have been implemented through teamwork. I am fortunate that our students, companies, clients have been patient and easy to work with. But any and all successes can be attributed to my team, including my supervisors and my work environment. In my multi-faceted position, I work with various departments and HCTC campuses and have found that we function well, because of the team mentality from the administrative level down to support staff, noted the honoree.
Prior to her present position, Donnia worked with the GEAR UP Kentucky program, worked for four years assisting seventh graders with portfolios, and as a substitute teacher in Knott County schools.
Donnia holds a bachelor s degree from Morehead State University and an associate degree from HCTC.
As part of the award, Donnia will attend a national conference in Austin, Texas and be honored by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System at a state conference.
