HCTC holds Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

Martin Luther King Jr. giving speechMartin Luther King Jr. Day will be celebrated on Monday, January 19 at Hazard Community and Technical College with a breakfast and an address by Steve Jones of Hazard. The Color of Unity is the theme for this year s event.
The public is invited to the program that begins at 10 a.m. on January 19, on the Hazard Campus in the First Federal Center in Room 123A.

Young people are invited to the event where they can create a banner that will used for the Martin Luther King Jr. march to Consolidated Baptist Church.

Steve Jones has spent his 25-year career in helping youth. He currently is the Berea College GEAR UP Program Service Coordinator. His past jobs include: HCTC Admissions Advisor/HCTC Reciprocal Mentoring Program Coordinator, UK Robinson Scholars Program Director, UK Robinson Scholars Program Regional Coordinator, HCTC Student Leadership Institute, HCTC Student Center Director/Enrollment amp; Diversity Services, HCTC Allied Health/Disabilities Services Program Counselor, HCTC Upward Bound Program Coordinator, HCTC Business amp; Industry Liaison.

He holds a bachelor s degree in business administration from Berea College. He is a Leadership Kentucky Graduate, University of Kentucky Commonwealth Fellows Program, Leadership East Kentucky, HCTC Leadership Institute, and Berea College Leadership. His past board positions include: Community Foundation of Hazard and Perry County, Forward in the Fifth, Hazard City Schools, and Hazard Perry County Community Ministries. Jones has been active in community service through the Hazard Perry County Community Ministries (Homeless Shelter) and through Consolidated Baptist Church where he serves in several roles.
