HCTC hires new Ready to Work coordinator

Kera KingHazard Community and Technical College welcomes Kera Ti Vonda King of Jackson, the new Ready to Work Coordinator on the Lees College Campus. She will be serving students in Lee, Wolfe, Owsley, and Breathitt counties.

King is passionate about higher education and she wants to help others in their educational goals. She graduated from HCTC and then earned her bachelor s degree and master s degree from Morehead State University. I am very familiar with campus life and the struggles of a new college student. I believe this will be an important quality for serving our students. I also have experience helping others recognize their potential and achieve their goals, she said, adding, The environment at HCTC is wonderful! Everyone you come in contact with is friendly and supportive, she said.

Sandy Campbell, Lead Ready to Work Coordinator, said she is very pleased with the wealth of experience that Ms. King brings to the job. King has worked as Kentucky River Community Care Service Coordinator, Buckhorn Children and Family Services Clinical Coordinator, and for the Social Security Administration.

King s duties will include counseling, advocacy and mentoring, referrals to community resources, work study placement, job readiness, life skills, and academic success seminars.

Ready to Work is a partnership between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS).
