HCTC hires Jennifer Lutes as math faculty

Jenny LutesJennifer Lutes of Beattyville is a new math instructor at Hazard Community and Technical College with an attitude of service instilled in her. I want to be the best teacher and advisor that I can be. I plan on learning as much as possible each semester to become better at both teaching and advising. I want my students to know that they can come to me for help or just to talk if they need to.

Mrs.. Lutes began her educational career as a student at the Lees College Campus when it was Lees College, and quickly moved to a work study position which led to a full-time administrative assistant position. While employed, she took one class from HCTC towards her associate s degree in 1996. She was still employed at Lees for three more years after HCTC merged with Lees College.

In 2011, Jennifer was hired on the Lees Campus as Math Instructional Specialist in the Developmental Math Redesign Lab. Supervisors remarked that Jennifer did an outstanding job working with the students in that capacity and beginning this fall she was hired to teach mathematics full-time. I really love working for HCTC. I have always felt at home here.

Mrs.. Lutes earned her Associate in Arts degree from Lees College; a bachelor s degree and a master s degree in Elementary Education from Morehead State University. She enrolled in an additional 18 hours of graduate level mathematics at Eastern Kentucky University between 2011 and 2013, and she is currently taking two classes at MSU.

Jennifer teaches currently on the Hazard Campus and at the Leslie County Center. She has previously taught at the Lees College Campus in Jackson.

In her spare time, Jennifer loves playing baseball, reading books, and spending time with her family.
