Hazard Community and Technical College named Military Friendly

military friendly logoHazard Community and Technical College has been designated a 2015 Military Friendly School by Victory Media. This is the third time that the College has been honored with this designation.

HCTC understands the vital service of our military and we want to serve them through our college, said HCTC President Dr. Steve Greiner. We offer services including financial aid, advising, and tutoring to help those who have served.

Bobby Collins, who works with Veteran Services, said he is happy to provide assistance. Our veterans are a great group of men and women. I really enjoy working with them. They come to HCTC with a goal in mind and they work hard to achieve those goals. I believe they provide excellent role models for our non-veteran students and are an asset to our college community.

The Military Friendly Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past six years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country.

The survey captures over 50 leading practices in supporting military students and is available free of charge to the more than 8,000 schools approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding.
