Challenger folks with MIT and Harvard studentsA team of seven Harvard and MIT students are cycling from Washington, DC to California this summer to organize hands-on learning festivals. The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky presented them with Duke/Duchess of Hazard certificates during a cookout in their honor on Friday, June 12, as a thank you for teaching many middle and high school students at the Challenger Center on the Hazard Campus of the Hazard Community and Technical College. The center director Tom Cravens is very appreciative of the Biking Cross-Country Team Members because of their ability to connect with the students. Presenting the certificates were Danny Maggard, Challenger Learning Center board member and Besty Clemons, Hazard-Perry County Chamber of Commerce. Anne Gilbert opened her home for the cookout. 1st Trust Bank provided the funding for the meal, prepared by Betsy Clemons, Annie Williams, Helen Wicker, Jenny Williams, Vivian Carter, and Alison Baker.
