Bonnie Shepherd retires from HCTC
Bonnie Shepherd s friendliness, helpfulness, and smile are just a few of the things
students and colleagues will miss when she retires from Hazard Community and Technical
College as a Student Services Generalist. Her last day of work is Oct. 30.
Shepherd has enjoyed her time with HCTC. Working with the students and having great supervisors and co-workers who were always ready to lend a helping hand when needed have been great, she said.
Mrs. Shepherd started working part time in the book store in July 1996 and started full time work in November 2000.
Registrar Libby Peters expressed her appreciation for Mrs. Shepherd s contributions to the college. Bonnie is an exemplary employee. She is very student-oriented, and it has been a true pleasure working with her, she said.
Germaine Shaffer, Vice President of Student Services, noted. I wish Bonnie well in her retirement, and I know we will miss her in Student Services. Although others may assume Bonnie s duties, no one will truly take her place, she said.
Mrs. Shepherd is looking forward to retirement so she can spend more time with her
family. She and her husband of 48 years, Leonard Shepherd, live in Avawam in Perry
County. They have three daughters - Jeannie Noble (Spouse-David) and Terry Eversole
(Spouse-Rodney), all of Georgetown KY and Faye Hurt (Spouse-Lawrence) of Hazard. The
couple has four grandchildren Aaron, Kevin, Morgan and Lauren.
