HCTC honors outstanding students at graduation

             Hazard Community and Technical College honored outstanding students during graduation on Saturday, May 5, at the John C. Combs Arena. A total of 583 students received a total of 1,428 credentials

            Jessica Monique Higgins of Red Fox received the President’s Award.

            The academic awards included the Distinguished Scholars honors presented to: Merkie Kaelynn Slone of Pippa Passes for Associate in Arts; Kara A. Bowling of Wooton for Associate in Science; Natalie E. Tomlinson of Putney – Professional Studio Artist: Bluegrass & Traditional Music; Zachary Greg Smith of Hallie – Radiography; Matthew J. Mosley of Smilax – Visual Communications: Multimedia, all three for Associate in Applied Science.

            Awards for those earning diplomas are: Colleen Lynnette Hastings of Viper – Bluegrass & Traditional Studio Artist; Natalie E. Tomlinson of Putney – Bluegrass & Traditional Studio Artist; Deatra Lynnette Havicus of Booneville – Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education.

The following Academic Achievement Awards were presented to: Sarah Rose Deal of Rogers – Associate in Arts; Lucy Scott of Yeaddiss – Associate in Fine Arts; Kelly Ashworth of Bonnyman – Associate in Science; Leslea Crase of Bulan– Business Administration; Robert Andrew Campbell of Happy– Computer Aided Drafting & Design/Surveying; Hurlen Lee Baker of Smilax – Computer & Information Technologies; Jessica Monique Higgins of Red Fox – Construction Technology; Cassie Rene Akemon of Jackson– Cosmetology; Simeon Jones of Hazard – Criminal Justice; Elizabeth Morris of Lexington – Health Information Technology; Stephanie Lee Wooton of Hazard – Human Services; Rhonda Lee Cornett of Delphia  – Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education; Megan Lynn Turner of Viper – Medical Information Technology; Andrew Wayne Maxwell of Teaberry– Nursing; Kendra Michaela Rosenbalm of Tazewell – Physical Therapist Assistant; Alan Wade Tompkins of Dallas, Texas – Professional Studio Artist: Bluegrass & Traditional Music; Zachary Greg Smith of Hallie – Radiography; Diane Lynn Mosley of Garrett – Surgical Technology; Matthew J.
