HCTC Opens New Enrollment Services Center, Offers Three New Classes in Wolfe County

Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) will be a little closer to home for community members in Wolfe and surrounding counties this year as a new HCTC Enrollment Services Center opens its doors.

HCTC is excited to announce the opening of its NEW Enrollment Services Center at the Wolfe County Board of Education in Campton. Starting January 24, this center will be open every Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to assist students with all their enrollment needs.

“We will be accepting anyone who needs to walk in and get their enrollment sorted out or started,” HCTC President Dr. Jennifer Lindon said. “We’re very excited to be able to offer services like this so much closer to home for our current and prospective Wolfe County students.”

Lindon added that not only will HCTC be bringing an enrollment services center to the area but will be offering three hybrid classes at the same location.

The 12-week classes, which begin Feb 7, 2022, include:

·        COM 252

·        MAT 146

A four-week UST 107 class will begin March 28 as well.

“Hybrid classes meet in-person and online,” Lindon explained. “These classes are designed for students who need flexibility in their schedules but still like to have in-person, traditional class meetings.”

Lindon added that first-time, credential seeking students could be eligible to have their Spring 2022 classes paid for with the HCTC Promise Scholarship—a last-dollar-in scholarship that pays for up to 15 credit hours plus fees for any first-time college student attending HCTC for Spring 2022. Students can get a jump start on their nursing career with COM 252 and MAT 146. COM 252 is a requirement for the LPN program and MAT 146 is a requirement for the RN program. Plus, both classes are part of the Associate of Arts degree that prepares you to transfer to a four-year university.

UST 107 class will prepare you for the national FAA Remote Pilot Certificate, opening doors to enhance your career in law enforcement, EMT/EMS, firefighting, insurance, real estate, utility work, and more.  This class also counts as an elective in your Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree.
