HCTC Director of Grants and Contracts Receives Prominent Grants Professional Certification

After much preparation, Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) Director of Grants and Contracts/SACSCOC Liaison Melissa Vermillion, MBA, has received the prestigious certification of Grants Professional Certified (GPC).

The GPC was issued through the Grants Professional Certification Institute, the only nationally recognized grant certification provider.

Vermillion is the first to receive this certification in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and, currently, is one of only 12 in Kentucky and 402 in the nation to have this certification.

Eligibility to pursue the Grants Professional Certification includes ample years of grant writing experience, professional development, community service, education attainment, and several funded grant applications. HCTC has received approximately $27 million in grant funds through Vermillion’s tenure at the college.
