HCTC Forgives Student Debt with Return of Forge Your Way Forward Program
Former Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) students who have been saddled with HCTC student debt after circumstances kept them from completing their degree may be eligible for a returning student debt forgiveness program—Forge Your Way Forward!
The Forge Your Way Forward program allows students to earn their way back into HCTC by relieving past student balances of HCTC debt for students who did not graduate.
HCTC President Dr. Jennifer Lindon explained that the program is returning to help its students get back on their feet and back on the road to graduation after such an economically and emotionally trying year.
“We wanted to help our students who may have fallen off the path for one reason or another and have been prohibited from coming back due to unpaid debt to HCTC,” Lindon said. “This program allows us to do just that. After the year we’ve all had dealing with the pandemic, it’s nice to be able to help offer a clean slate to some of our students.”
Lindon said interested students can go online to hazard.kctcs.edu to find out more information about the program and what qualifies them for it.
“If you meet all of the requirements, you could have your HCTC student debt forgiven in time for the Fall 2021 semester,” she added.
