Swafford joins HCTC Knott County Branch as liaison

Bryan Swafford of Pippa Passes is the new Campus Community Liaison at the Knott County Branch of Hazard Community and Technical College. His first day was Aug. 3.

Swafford will serve as the administrator in charge at the branch and will help students with admissions, registration, and financial aid. It is very exciting and rewarding to work with both the local community and students to promote education and growth. I am thrilled to be located at the Knott County Opportunity Center and hope to make a positive contribution to Knott County, Swafford said.

His top priority as Campus Community Liaison is to better the economic and educational outlook for the people of Knott County through the opportunities provided by KCTCS and HCTC. Providing a solid foundation through education and vocational training is vital to the growth and sustainability of our local community. I simply want to help people better themselves through education and seek to make a positive impact on the community we serve. As a graduate of Alice Lloyd College, I am very proud to have been a part of this community for almost 20 years. I am very excited to have the opportunity to promote higher education in Knott County.

Germaine Shaffer, Vice President of Student Services, noted, I am very pleased that Bryan will be serving the students and community in Knott County. Bryan brings a high level of experience to the position and we re fortunate to have him in this new role.

Prior to taking this job, Swafford worked for HCTC in two other roles -- as the Student Support Services Academic Counselor and as GEAR Up Kentucky Program Coordinator. At Alice Lloyd College, he served as Director of Admissions and Admissions Counselor.

Swafford and his wife, Natosha, have two sons Bryson, age 7, and Kolton, age 2.
