HCTC recognizes faculty and staff with awards

Hazard Community & Technical College (HCTC) recognized employees with awards during a college-wide event on April 26. The college awards these recognitions to faculty and staff members, with the faculty awards divided by division.

The award recipients include, in alphabetical order by last name and including their award: 

  • Myla Barrett, Staff of the Year;

  • Chaseton Colwell, Staff of the Year; 

  • Willie Cornett, Faculty of the Year, Advanced and Professional Technologies Division Winner;

  • Evelyn Hudson, Faculty of the Year, Arts, Sciences and Kentucky School of Bluegrass & Traditional Music Division Winner; and

  • Christina Martin, Faculty of the Year, Health and Public Services Division Winner. 

Myla Barrettbarrett: Director of Operations Myla Barrett, who works with Hazard Community & Technical College’s workforce solutions department, received the 2024 Staff of the Year Award. 




Chaseton Colwellcolwell: Administrative Assistant Chaseton Colwell, who works with Hazard Community & Technical College’s facilities management department, received the 2024 Staff of the Year Award. 




Willie Cornettcornett: Associate Professor Willie Cornett, who teaches in Hazard Community & Technical College’s heavy equipment operation program, received the 2024 Faculty of the Year Award for the advanced and professional technologies division. Cornett also received the John Brown Outstanding Faculty Award. 


Chistina Martinmartin: Program Coordinator of Nursing Christina Martin, who oversees and teaches in Hazard Community & Technical College’s nursing program, received the 2024 Faculty of the Year Award for the Health and Public Services division. 




Evelyn Hudsonhudson: Evelyn Hudson, who serves as an instructor and reference librarian at Hazard Community & Technical College, received the 2024 Faculty of the Year Award for the Arts, Sciences and Kentucky School of Bluegrass & Traditional Music division.
 

 

This year's John Brown Outstanding Faculty Award recipient is Willie Cornett. One of the faculty members of the year is chosen for the award, named after John Brown, who taught history and served as a faculty member at HCTC for many years.
