HCTC to host event series honoring workforce entrants
Employers, government officials and community members to join those beginning their careers
Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) will host two public signing events as part of its Going Pro Signing Day series. Additionally, HCTC will partner with local employers to host on-site, private signing ceremonies as part of the event series.
These events will recognize workforce entrants across the college's sectors, including students who will work in construction, healthcare and other fields, including apprentices, full-time employees and more.
The public events include, in chronological order and including their location:
-
April 9, 1:00 p.m. ET, Multipurpose Room, HCTC Lees College Campus, 601 Jefferson Avenue, Jackson, Ky. 41339; and
-
May 3, 3:00 p.m. ET, First Federal Center, HCTC Hazard Campus, 1 Community College Drive, Hazard, Ky. 41701.
April 9
Government, business and community stakeholders will join in celebrating workforce entrants at an HCTC Works!- related event hosted at the Lees College Campus in Jackson, Ky. The event will celebrate 11 high school students who have job shadowed with Juniper Health, Inc. (JHI), a clinic system serving rural communities in southeastern Kentucky. Of those 11, five are actively working as apprentices at JHI.
May 3
On May 3, stakeholders will gather to recognize upcoming nursing graduates, including many who will enter the workforce as Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) employees. Since 2022, HCTC has partnered with ARH to address the organization's nursing shortages.
The events coincide with the Kentucky Community & Technical College System's (KCTCS') Going Pro: Kentucky's Talent Take-off effort, which will highlight students entering critical areas of the Commonwealth's workforce. The effort began officially on April 1, with an event in the Capitol Rotunda.
Official agendas for the events will be made available upon request. Final details are forthcoming.
