What is Visual Communications?
Visual communications is the practice of using visual elements to communicate information or ideas. The Visual Communications Programs offers three certificates: Design Assistant, Digital Photography, and Mixed Media Design. The courses provided across these certificates provides the basic skills necessary to prepare and produce basic multimedia presentations, video presentations, images/photographs, and more. These certificates are a great add-on to any degree and can be used as electives in the AA, AA, or the Computer Information and Technologies degree. Get your tuition paid through the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, if eligible.
HCTC is phasing out the Visual Communications AAS Degree Program and assisting currently enrolled students with a plan for graduation.
What are my career choices?
Gaining skills in graphic design, digital document design, photography, and other digital operations, will give you a leg up on those who don’t acquire these same skills. These skills will also provide a foundation to allow you to advance in the graphic design field. New jobs are opening in retail and businesses developing digital photography, web design images, and Internet business.

You can earn any certificate above in as little as 16 weeks depending on your availability and schedule to take courses required for each certificate.
