For Parents/High School Students
Are you in high school or a parent of a high school student who may be interested in Nursing? Most High Schools and Area Technology Centers (ATCs) in the HCTC Service Area (Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe counties) offer classes with Dual Credit and Work Ready High School Scholarships. In total, high school students could take up to 12 courses, and many of these are the pre-requisites needed for Nursing. There are many benefits to taking dual credit courses in high school.
With the Dual Credit High School Scholarship, a high school student can take two technical courses each year, and in the student's junior year, two additional courses (covered by the Work Ready High School Scholarship) may be taken. Before taking dual credit classes, students need to be college-ready and have completed required developmental work.
