Online Learning

Is your schedule just too busy to take traditional on-campus classes?

HCTC Online Learning options allow you to learn from anywhere at any time!

HCTC Online Learning offers convenient, learner-programmed education online 24/7/365. Online courses are offered in a variety of HCTC's programs and are designed to ensure that you receive the same scope and quality of instruction as courses taught through our traditional in-person classroom settings.

How do I know if I am the "right type" for this mode of learning?

People learn in different ways and at different rates. Online learning is not restricted by time or location and, as a result, is a convenient learning environment for busy adults.

Online Learning might be ideal for you if. . .

  • You are self-motivated
  • You are a self-directed learner
  • You are a good reader
  • You do not procrastinate
  • You prefer an individualized mode of learning
  • You do not need the stimulation of a traditional class
  • You are engaged in and fairly comfortable with technology

What kind of technology do I need?

You don't have to be a technology wizard to take an online course; however, you should be comfortable with your computer and be willing to deal with any problems that may arise. You'll need a computer with Internet access (DSL recommended) and an e-mail account. You should know basic word processing, how to use e-mail, how to attach documents, understand netiquette, how to download files, and how to search for information on the Internet. You will communicate with faculty and other students by e-mail, chat, or in online discussion groups.
