Hazard Community and Technical College Board of Directors Distinguished Service Award

Nominations are being accepted for the Hazard Community and Technical College Board of Directors Distinguished Service Award.

The Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) Board of Directors is accepting nominations for the HCTC Board of Directors Distinguished Service Award that was established in 1986 to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the college, community, and the education of the citizens served by the College’s service area.

Individuals identified should meet the following criteria:

Service to the Community

The person should be clearly recognized as having made a significant contribution to improving the quality of life of the citizens of the seven county area by the College.  Such a contribution should exhibit the following characteristics:

  1. Have an enduring and long lasting effect on the quality of life in this area;
  2. Effect a large or potentially large number of persons who live in the area;
  3. Be of such significance that without the person’s leadership, effort, dedication, and/or commitment, the program, activity, concept and/or improvement would not have been developed, implemented and/or sustained.

Education

The person must clearly be recognized as making significant contribution to Hazard Community and Technical College and the improved education of the people of the seven counties served by the College.  Such a contribution should exhibit the following characteristics:

  1. Be considered innovative in approach and effective in increasing the higher education attainment level of the citizenry of the area;
  2. Effect a large or potentially large number of persons who live in the area;
  3. Have or have had long-lasting effects on improving the education level of our citizens;
  4. Be of such significance that without the person’s individual effort, the program or activity would not have be developed, implemented, and/or sustained.

Characteristics

In addition to the above criteria, the person should possess personal characteristics which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Be a person of good moral character to the extent that he or she serves a model citizen in the community and is recognized as such by the community;
  2. Be a current or past resident of one of the seven counties served by the college; and,
  3. Not be currently employed at the College or be a current member of the Hazard Community and Technical College Board of Directors. 

Award and Nomination Submission

The award will be named at the Hazard/Perry County Civic Night event, by the HCTC President and the HCTC Board of Directors.
