How do I activate my Student Login or reset my password for this account?

Account Activation / Password Reset

To activate your account or reset your password, keep in mind:

  • Passwords cannot contain all or part of the user’s name.
  • Passwords must be at least eight characters in length.
  • Passwords must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
    1. English uppercase characters (A through Z);
    2. English lowercase characters (a through z);
    3. Base 10 digits (0 through 9);
    4. Symbolic characters (examples: ! $ # %).
    **Examples: Mustang99 Golfer05 !student1 college*1
  • Passwords must be significantly different from prior passwords.

Note: Write down your User Name, Email Address and Password you create for future use. No one else has access to your Password.

Note: Your user name and password is the same for E-mail, using on-campus computers, Blackboard, and PeopleSoft access. If you need assistance, please visit a local KCTCS campus and someone in Technology Solutions will be more than happy to assist you with this process. Please be aware that passwords cannot be reset unless proper photo identification is shown per the FERPA Act.

Note: Every 90 days, your current password will expire. When you log in to your account, you will be prompted to change your password beginning 15 days prior to the password expiration. If your account expires, you will need to REPEAT THIS PROCESS to reactivate/reset your account and create a new password.

Note: Remember to always close the Web browser after you have completed activation/reactivation or logged into your account in order to assure that no one else can access your information.

Access your KCTCS student e-mail account and enter your user name and password. Check your KCTCS student e-mail account regularly. Official announcements, grades, and financial aid information will be sent to your account that will not be mailed to you in any other format.

How do I avoid getting messages that my mailbox is full?

Email accounts are limited in size so you need to delete emails frequently from:

  1. your “inbox”,
  2. your “junk email” folder and
  3. your “sent" folder and then
  4. your "deleted items" folder

***You can delete all items in the Deleted Items folder by using the right mouse-click and choosing Empty Deleted Items Folder.

***If you receive a large attachment from a professor consider saving the attachment to disk and deleting the email or forwarding the email to another personal email account that you use such as gmail, hotmail, or yahoo that has larger storage capacity.

How do I use my Student Self-Service account?

Student Self Service is a resource for students provided through PeopleSoft.

You can use Student Self Service to view your class schedules, make a payment to the College, change your address or phone number, view your degree progress report and even register online for classes! (Note: Online registration is not available for new students; only returning students may register online.)

The process for creating your PeopleSoft account and setting up your Student Email are the same. The system sets up your Student Email, Student Self-Service, and Blackboard account at the same time. You will use the same username and password for all three.
