Admissions Guidelines

Ready, set, go!

If you have graduated from high school or earned a GED, you’re ready to begin.  Get started with classes now by submitting an application and some additional information.

What additional information will I need to submit?

You’ll need to provide:

  • Your official high school transcript with graduation date or GED test scores
  • Scores from a placement test such as the ACT or COMPASS
  • Official transcripts from all non-KCTCS colleges (must be mailed directly to the Office of Admissions)


Are there other requirements?

If you want to enter a technical or selective admission program, you may have additional requirements.  For more information, contact the Office of Admissions or an HCTC Admission Advisor prior to application.

Are there any other admission restrictions?

Not at all.  If you meet the general requirements for admission, you will be considered regardless of race, color, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, age, sexual orientation, or mental or physical disability.

Visiting Students

The steps below are for students who are currently enrolled at another college who plan to attend HCTC to take one or two classes.

First: Apply for Admissions

You need to complete an admissions application by visiting the Online Admissions Application

Second: Setup your Student Center

Once you submit your admissions application go to Student Center. Obtain your username, and set your password. This account gives you access to your student self-service (registration, payments, financial aid, grades, etc). This username and password also will be used for your student email and Blackboard accounts. Under Email please provide a personal email account, other than the KCTCS email. This will assist you in resetting a forgotten password, if needed. you can click the Add button then enter the personal email address, i.e, and hit the Save button to update your records.

Third: Submit Official Transcript

You will need to have your current college send us a transcript so we can evaluate it. We require this to ensure that you have met any required prerequisites for any class you wish to take at HCTC. you can also visit: to order a transcript.

Fourth: Register

After we receive your transcript, it will take about a week for our Registrar to evaluate the course work you have taken. we will the schedule you an appointment with an academic advisor to get you enrolled at HCTC.

Fifth: Check your KCTCS Email Account Regularly

Your email account is activated after you register for classes. All official HCTC correspondence is sent through your KCTCS email account.
