Institutional Effectiveness, Planning, and Research

Institutional Effectiveness, Planning, and Research (IEPR) assists HCTC units with accreditation, strategic planning, assessment and continuous enhancement, and institutional research. Review a brief introduction to IEPR at HCTC.

Institutional Accreditation by SACSCOC and Other Accrediting Agencies

Hazard Community and Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate degree. IEPR Mission Statement

Guide the college-wide institutional effectiveness, planning, and research processes at HCTC by monitoring the processes, providing follow-up where necessary, and offering training, information, and assistance as needed. The HCTC institutional effectiveness, planning, and research processes include facilitating college-wide strategic planning, facilitating and administering assessment activities, providing data through institutional research, and, under the direction of the HCTC SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison, monitoring SACSCOC accreditation activities. The HCTC grant writing processes include facilitating the discovery and pursuit of new grant opportunities, in conjunction with interested constituent groups, including the completion of the grant application and managing the submission procedure.

IEPR Unit Goals

  1. Facilitate college-wide strategic planning.
  2. Facilitate and administer college-wide assessment processes.
  3. Facilitate and provide data through institutional research activities.
  4. Monitor SACSCOC accreditation activities (under direction of the HCTC SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison).
  5. Pursue new grant opportunities.

Strategic Planning

Office of Assessment & Continuous Enhancement

  1. Coordinate with faculty to complete course assessments.
  2. Research and develop assessment materials for faculty.
  3. Assist with operational planning and assessment activities for all support units.
  4. Assist with the completion of program or unit reviews to support the goals/functions of college programs and services.
  5. Provide resources and workshops related to assessment and outcomes.

Office of Institutional Research

  1. Write reports to extract data from PeopleSoft student administration system.
  2. Develop, administer, analyze, and report survey data.
  3. Assist with planning and assessment activities, including providing data for assessment plans.
  4. Design/direct analytical studies to support the goals/functions of college programs and services.
  5. Provide institutional data to support grant writing, curriculum development, and other projects.

 Grants

  1. Assist faculty and staff in visualizing new projects and programs.
  2. Ensure that projects are realistic and build institutional capacity.
  3. Ensure proposed project personnel are committed to proposed project.
  4. Research and identify potential funding sources and relay information to faculty and staff.
  5. Facilitate the development of competitive proposals through research, proposal presentation, and project team management.
  6. Submit proposals through the institutional approval process in accordance with deadlines and regulations.
  7. Collaborate with external community partners to pursue grant opportunities of mutual interest.
